I know it’s a provocative title, and a question that any stripShow user would be justified in asking. After all, it’s been years since the last version was released. This is of course all my fault; I have not had time or inclination in the past few months to devote any effort to stripShow at all. For one thing, I am no longer a webcomics creator, and without that impetus driving new features, it’s hard to drum up any enthusiasm for updating the software. For another, I have new hobbies which consume almost all of my time.
In addition, I note that ComicPress now has a companion app, Comic Easel, which appears to do basically the same thing as AutoComic: allows it to be used with any theme. I’m wondering if this new functionality has rendered stripShow moot.
So what do you think? If you still use stripShow, what is it about it that makes you choose it over ComicPress? I’m in the process of making a decision about whether to continue stripShow development and I would very much like to know what people think.

Hey!
Even though I do like stripShow better than any other webcomic plugin out there (including comic easel) I ‘ll say that it’s up to you really! If you have no interest in continuing it then don’t otherwise it will be a burden for you and you won’t be doing it right (well). Maybe you can put it in github as an open source project and see if anyone else would like to continue it
anyway, if you do decide to discontinue it let me know… I might continue to use or I just might switch to comic easel. Ether way, thanks for giving us StripShow! Thank you very much indeed!
On second thought, I ‘ll probably not switch to Comic Easel because customizing navigation sucks! You made it dead easy and cool! Thanks!
I admit I haven’t played with Comic Easel much.
Say, Web, have you had a chance to test out the alpha of stripShow 3 yet?
Well, I searched something using custom post AND WP featured image integration for the comics -more easy to integrate in a custom theme. Comic Easel does the job so I decided to move to this solution.
@Brad no I haven’t tried the alpha version of sS3 yet! [apologies for the late reply]
I agree with the above sentiment that, if you don’t want to deal with it – don’t! No one enjoys working on something that doesn’t give them joy – don’t be a burden to yourself!
I, for one, however, am caught in a quandary – I switched from ComicPress to stripShow because it looked like ComicPress was dead. Now, ComicPress is moving forward and YOU are considering ending stripShow! Sometimes my timing is just SO off… =)
I really like the fact that stripShow (and, I guess, now Comic Easel) allows for the using of your own theme – I use Rocket Themes for clients and myself, which have a grid system (Gantry), allowing you to construct WordPress pages completely from widgets – which is what I have done – my comic front page is actually comprised of all of your sidebar widgets for the comic, rant, navigation, storylines, etc. Think WordPress Lego.
I will go where the WordPress winds take me, if you decide to stop – But I DO want you to know that I have truly enjoyed using stripShow! Your contribution really helped me turn my comic site back into a thing of beauty, not being tied-down to default themes! Best of luck with your decision – and I HAVE downloaded the alpha – late one night when I have the gumption, I’ll take the plunge…
I use StripShow’s AutoComic, and I really like it. I’ve got it inside a Twenty-Ten WP template, so it supports just about every Plugin. I tried Comic Easel, and found it heavy-handed: in that if I wanted a site that has the same basic look, layout, and function as a hundred other webcomics: it’s fine. But that’s not what I want. As I’m not a pro CSS developer, trying to customize Easel was a real pain. Please don’t give up on StripShow!
I tried to download it but couldn’t find?

I use StripShow because ComicPress was just too much. I use my own simple custom theme that contains code I can mostly understand and edit. AutoComic gave me an easy way to add comics with navigation and transcripts.
I hope you keep it up (no need for new features from my perspective), and if you don’t, I’ll likely still use it unless eventual compatibility issues force me to stop. =)
I have tried pretty much every option on the market and stripshow works the best for me. Please keep it kicking!
OK, I’ve heard you all. I’m going back to stripShow development.
