I feel a little silly for posting this, but I am in the process of converting a comics site into something more wide reaching. Still, I want to maintain the 300+ comic archive that I already have, particularly should I decide to revisit it in the future.

Anyway, I am pretty deep into a template and theme development right now, but my live test is running a fairly bare bones set up into which I'm slotting different elements that I want. I like the idea of stripShow, but have been unable to successfully post any comics. I tried both my sparse test theme (using AutoComic) and the included Sandbox theme to no avail. The problem seems to be the same.

I don't think that the comic is uploading, and that's why I'm a little embarrassed. This seems like such an easy problem, but I don't know what's going on. In my WordPress backend, I'm in the New Post section, I select the "stripShow" option and browse to the correct image file. Curiously, I get no live preview in the backend (at the bottom under "Comic Preview") and when I preview the post, same problem. Text shows up, tags show up, everything else is present except the comic and associated navigation.

I did notice that the backend stripShow option does not include a specific "Upload" button, but rather just a "Browse" button. I don't know if that is somehow related. Obviously, I browse to the correct file but the next step is missing unless it's occurring without direct user input.

Anyhow, I'm flummoxed. What am I missing? I appreciate any help.

Hi Irving!

OK, well, let's see what the problem could be. The first thing is that you have a comics folder, and that it's writeable. The little stripShow section of your WordPress Dashboard should throw an error in red if it isn't.

Assuming it's writeable, you can upload your comics individually in the Add Comic page, like you're doing… there's no Upload button, as you said. The comics get uploaded when you hit "Publish." Do you have any access to your site via FTP or some other method, to see if the files are showing up in your comics folder?

Oh, and the Comic Preview box is pretty dumb. It doesn't show the comic until the post is saved. Sorry about that.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply! I've read through a lot of your forum posts, and I'm always impressed at how quick you are to respond.

Anyway, enough flattery. <img src="http://stripshow.monkeylaw.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif" title="Laugh" alt="Laugh" /> I knew it was something goofy, and sure enough, I wasn't posting but rather previewing. It didn't occur to me that the comic only uploaded on a post. So, problem solved for that. Sorry for the inconvenience. I may post back on some archives-related issues later, but first I have a few ideas of my own I want to try. I've been coding in PHP for a couple of years, but just started with WordPress and its inherent functions, and I'm laboring under the "newb" yoke for the first time in awhile.

Thanks again!

While I don't maintain stripShow for a living, I wouldn't say no to a little donation, if you think the plugin is worth it...
