displaying last comic + "not found" error

Hello,
I love the potential the stripshow plugin. Ultimately I'd like to be able to adapt a theme I like to support these functionalities. Right now however, there seems to be something wrong with my configuration.

From what I understand, on my actual wp setup, no comic is being shown if there was none posted for the date of today. I wish I could just have the last one displayed all the time. Since I’m a lazy contemplative artist, I take far too much time thinking about my stuff before laying it down on paper (or wacom) and I like to think I’m not going to have a comic done for EVERYDAY. =o)

Am I missing a piece of information somewhere? The Monkeylaw site does displays the last comic (oct 19th) today, doesn’t it? I've seen a few other sites that are using the plugin and the last comic is always being displayed right, no matter how long ago it was posted. I couldn’t see any reference to this type of problem on the forum, so I thought I could ask for help here myself.

A second bug I seem to be having at the moment is that if you access the root of the blog (http://www.broccolipictures.com/blog/), you get a NOT FOUND – Sorry, but no posts matched your criteria message in lieu of the recent series of posts. (I wouldn't be surprised if these two problems were related) The only way to access the content then is to click the links in the Latest Blog Posts section. Deactivating the plugin and switching to a regular theme fixes that. (I’ve noticed that switching to another theme while having the plugin still active gets you the same empty homepage, AND dysfunctional categories — of course that’s to be expected if the theme hasn’t been modified to handle the stripshow functionalities — the only way to get somewhere then is to know the exact URL of the post you want to access. RSS feeds are still being read okay though)

Additional info: FireFox user here, having same prob using IE 7, so I guess it’s not browser related. DB is being hosted at Dreamhost, initially one-click installed, and version is up to date. Using akismet plugin.

If a PHP monkey out there could help pinpoint the problem, I would appreciate! I can make modifications myself, I mainly need to know where to look for. (as a reward, you get a free cookie from my server and the satisfaction of seeing the actual comics when all of this gets up and running =o)

I think perhaps your index.php file might resemble the default index.php (from the WordPress default theme) — this behavior is seen when the default theme is used with stripShow. Examine the index.php file that comes in the stripshow theme, you'll see some major differences.

Oh boy. That was it?

I simply recopied the index.php that came with the stripshow zipped archive over the one that was up on my site, and now it seems to work just fine. I'm embarassed, really… I don't remember even editing it — shows you how good a webmaster I am.

Well, my bad. Thanks a lot!
Now I can concentrate on actually drawing.
=o)

While I don't maintain stripShow for a living, I wouldn't say no to a little donation, if you think the plugin is worth it...
